Time Sequential Signal Collinear Holographic Memory

System

Fig.1 shows the optical system of Collinear Holographic Memory. The Spatial Light Modulator(SLM) makes reference patterns and signal patterns on a single light source, and then the beam makes hologram on the medium. When the medium illuminated with the reconstructing beam, the recorded data is reconstructed on the CCD sensor. Utilizing this system, we invented the concept of Time Sequential Signal Collinear Holographic Memory, and evaluating the characteristics of this system.

In conventional holographic memories, 2D digital page data are recorded. In contrast, in this system, various signal channels are recorded in parallel, and in continuity(Fig.2). This will make it possible to exceed the limit of recording density and transfer rate of page oriented holographic memories.

Numerical Simulation

We made a numerical model of this system and conducted simulations. As a first result, a large crosstalk between recording tracks came out. To solve this problem, we extended a theory of collinear holographic memory, and found a solution about it. And furthermore, we verified the solution with numerical simulation(Fig.3).
